Si torna in campo e si torna sugli spalti, ed era davvero la cosa più importante, più attesa e più bella, anche se con un pensiero fisso alle diffidate e ai diffidati. Un esordio stagionale “in casa” solo sulla carta, perché per garantire una capienza adeguata dobbiamo andare a giocare a Calenzano, su un terreno a cui siamo poco abituati. Un primo tempo con davvero poco da segnalare, mentre nella ripresa la partita si accende, e la prima emozione purtroppo è l’espulsione per doppia ammonizione di capitan Geri, che rompe gli equilibri. La squadra regge bene e non rinuncia all’iniziativa, ma a metà frazione Thiam approfitta di una nostra indecisione difensiva e insacca da pochi passi. La reazione grigionera è furiosa ma anche di qualità, e dopo pochi minuti di forcing un tiro dal limite di Borja viene respinto corto dal portiere, con Calbi che si avventa sul pallone e pareggia i conti. La partita negli ultimi 20 minuti è apertissima, il Lebowski ci prova ma il Galluzzo è sempre pericoloso in contropiede. A 5′ dalla fine una parabola visionaria di Borja su punizione si stampa sulla traversa, ricacciando in gola l’urlo di esultanza. Ma la beffa finale arriverà al secondo minuto di recupero, quando alla fine di una mischia in area Checcucci spara in rete da distanza ravvicinata e porta la vittoria in casa gialloblu. Manca la fortuna in questa prima uscita, ma arriverà. E aspettiamo il ritorno dei molti assenti, prima quelli in campo e poi quelli sugli spalti.

We’re back on the pitch and on the stands, and being back is what matters the most, although our thoughts are with our brothers and sisters hit by stadium bans. This is an “at home” seasonal debut only on paper, as due to Covid restrictions our stadium in Tavarnuzze has been deemed too small and we have to play at the grounds in Calenzano, a rough pitch that the team initially struggles to get used to. Not much of note goes down during the first half, but the match lights up after the 45th minute. Unfortunately, the first noteworthy event is CSL captain Geri’s second yellow card and expulsion, which breaks the balance of the game. The team manages to initially hold its own without backing down, but halfway through the second half, Galluzzo’s Thiam punishes a hesitation by the Lebowski defence and taps the ball in from close quarters. Our boys react with both fury and quality, and after a few minutes of incessant forcing, a shot by Borja from the edge of the box is initially repelled by the Galluzzo keeper but then tapped in by the merciless Calbi. The final twenty minutes are wide open: the Lebowski lads try their best but Galluzzo continue to be dangerous on counterattack. Five minutes from the end, a visionary free kick by Borja crashes against the crossbar, choking the roar of the curva. Sadly, the final disappointment comes during the second minute of extra time, when out of a confused melee in the box comes a close shot into the back of the net by Galluzzo’s Checcucci. Victory on the pitch belongs to the yellow-and-blues as Lady Luck does not smile upon the black-and-greys today – but we’re certain she will again soon, and in the meantime we await the return of many absentees, both on the pitch and on the stands.
