Una partita maledetta quella di oggi per i grigioneri, ai quali torna indietro la fortuna avuta nelle partite di Coppa, per un risultato che lascia davvero l’amaro in bocca. La prima metà del primo tempo per la verità vede gli ospiti meritatamente in vantaggio, con un predominio territoriale netto e il nostro ex Tomberli che su un lancio lungo è bravo e fortunato a infilarsi tra Innocenti in uscita e il difensore e appoggiare in rete dal limite dell’area. Il Lebowski sbanda un po’, la reazione non è immediata, ma nella seconda parte della frazione si inizia a spingere in modo costante e convincente. Una punizione di Bagnoli si stampa sul palo, e ci sono vari altri brividi nell’area rossoblu. Il secondo tempo parte allo stesso modo, con una sorta di assedio respinto in modo non sempre ordinato dalla Lanciotto. Altro legno colpito dai grigioneri con una palombella di testa in mischia, ma poi alla mezzora finalmente un cross teso rasoterra trova Calbi pronto alla deviazione in rete da pochi passi. 1-1 e l’inerzia sembra a nostro favore, ma gli dei del calcio oggi ci sono avversi, e un paio di minuti dopo Innocenti si lascia sfuggire un pallone alto e Ascolese deve solo depositare in rete. Si tenta un nuovo disperato assalto, ma stavolta non riusciamo a strappare un gol al novantesimo. Succede. Reagiamo come sappiamo fare.

A cursed match for the black-and-greys, who pay their dues for the luck they had in the Cup, and come out the other side with a very bitter result. Admittedly, the visitors are well deserving of their lead in the early game, dominating the field; and with a combination of talent and luck, Tomberli – a former Lebowski – intercepts the ball that Innocenti had sent towards his defender, and scores from the edge of the box. CSL is shaken, and takes a bit to recover and react, but in the later first half begins to push harder. A free kick taken by Bagnoli hits the post, and the red-and-blues are subjected to a few more scares in their box. The second half begins in the same way, with a siege that Lanciotto isn’t always very orderly in repelling. The black-and-greys hit another post thanks to a curved header in the box; and finally, after 30 minutes, a sharp low cross is picked up by Calbi who deviates the ball into the net from close-up. 1-1, and the game’s inertia seems to favour CSL. But the football gods are against us today, and only a couple of minutes later, Innocenti fails to hold on to a high ball and Ascolano needs only tap it into the Lebowski net. CSL tries one final desperate assault, but this time there will be no last-minute goal. These things happen. Let’s come back from this like we’re used to.

Dopo il valzer di decisioni da parte delle autorità nei giorni precedenti al match, il verdetto finale è che si gioca a porte chiuse. Presenti in tribuna solo i membri dello staff tecnico, mentre gli Ultimi Rimasti arrivano nel secondo tempo e si posizionano all’esterno dell’impianto, da dove comunque si riesce a capire qualcosa della partita. Un esordio davvero difficile, sul campo di una squadra da molti data per favorita nel girone, e con qualche assenza nella nostra formazione. E in effetti nell’arco di tutti i 90 minuti i padroni di casa danno vita a un’ottima prestazione, dimostrando grande valore tecnico individuale, e forse qualche miglioramento ancora da fare nel gioco di squadra. Grande prova di compattezza e carattere da parte dei grigioneri, che non si fanno intimorire e anzi dopo un quarto d’ora passano in vantaggio con un bel diagonale di Bagnoli su lancio di Quadri. La reazione del Montespertoli non si fa attendere, e nel primo tempo i gialloverdi colpiscono anche un palo, ma le ripartenze veloci di Calbi e Mazzanti gli danno sempre qualche grattacapo. All’inizio della ripresa grandissima occasione con un calcio di rigore che Innocenti è bravissimo a parare. La spinta dei padroni di casa cresce ancora e sinceramente il gol è nell’aria quando, poco dopo metà secondo tempo, Maltomini tira una bomba imparabile da dentro l’area di rigore dopo un’azione manovrata. Nel finale ancora bravissimo Innocenti a sventare due tiri destinati sotto la traversa, e nel recupero ancora un brivido con una punizione di poco alta. Un ottimo punto quello conquistato oggi: il Lebowski sa soffrire e stringere i denti, e specialmente in una stagione come questa è una dote fondamentale.

After much back-and-forth on the part of the public health authorities, today’s match was, eventually, played behind closed doors. Only members of the club staff were able to access the stands, while the Ultimi Rimasti arrived during the second half and positioned themselves outside the grounds but in a spot where they could still make out at least some of the action. This was a difficult debut, on the home-pitch of one of this year’s favourites, and with a few absences amongst our ranks. And indeed, the locals played very good football for the whole 90 minutes, showing great individual skill, though they perhaps needed something more at team level. The black-and-greys, on the other hand, displayed great tenacity and group spirit, without letting themselves be intimidated. Instead, the grigioneri go one-up 15 minutes into the game thanks to a wonderful initiative by Bagnoli. Montespertoli is quick to react, hit a post, but fail to score for the rest of the first half and in fact have to contend with quick counterattacks led by Calbi and Mazzanti. At the beginning of the second half, the locals have a clear chance as they gain a penalty, but Innocenti does a wonderful job of saving it. Montespertoli however continue to push and a had already been in the air by the time they score thanks to an powerful shot inside the box by Maltomini, following a concerted manoeuvre, which the goalkeeper can do nothing about. In the final minutes, however, Innocenti once again saves two shots aimed below the crossbar, and in extra-time the locals take an insidious free kick that only just flies over the bar. This is an excellent point for Lebowski: the team knows how to buckle down and suffer when needed, and especially for a season like this one, that is a fundamental skill to have.
